Colin Hunter is certainly one of the few who can sing "Come Fly With Me" and really mean it! The founding president and executive of Sunwing Travel Group is also an experienced songster, who stopped into Montreal last week to launch his fourth album "Timeless Too".
Originally from Bombay, India, Colin Hunter settled in Canada in 1960 after living in England for 10 years. He now resides in Toronto and… pretty much everywhere else on the planet. In fact, the businessman is also passionate about travelling, driven by his love for adventure and discovery. However, the man who had the pleasure of travelling around the world will tell you that he doesn't really have a favourite destination. "You know, there are so may beautiful places to see. Each country has its own special charm and appeal," confided a beaming Colin Hunter.
Crooner and Tour Operator
Colin Hunter has another passion. This father of four and grand-father, six times over, loves to sing. "My mother told me that when I was a child I never stopped singing. I would sing some Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Tony Bennett", admitted this lover of jazz. He adores singing and has the voice to do it. In fact, the tour operator and singer gave two performances at the Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill in Montreal, March 10 and 11. These shows were presented in conjunction with the release of his new album, available in Quebec in April. The album proposes his own take on a few classic tunes, such as Day by Day, My Kind of Town, They Can't Take That Away From Me and several others.
Colin Hunter Hits the High Notes with Sunwing
Colin Hunter is no beginner in terms of recording albums. It was back in 2005 as he was working on a project to launch Sunwing airlines that he produced his very first album "Come Fly With Me," with the Starlight Orchestra.
In 2007, he's at it again and produces a second CD titled "Timeless," and then a year later, he releases Mostly About You with the legendary piano player Joe Sealy.
And because the public seems to enjoy his music, why not share it with the airline's customers? And voilà, now all passengers aboard Sunwing flights can enjoy Colin Hunter's interpretations of some of the world's greatest hits. Just tune in to channel 10.
If you haven't flown with Sunwing and have yet to purchase one of his albums, you can still listen to Colin Hunter's song stylings by stopping by his website: www.colinhunter.ca.
"Some people write to me to say how much they like my songs and want to me to continue," states Colin Hunter with pride.
